about

I am replacing all countries' old anthems with new aleatoric anthems in the shape of hymns, fanfares or largos. The idea to create ironic anthems comes from observing the unfortunate resurgence of nationalism because of the pandemic. Nationalism is inherently bad since it separates us into tribes. These new and improved anthems that I am writing are variations on the same piece - but performed/created in different ways (live or generated with an aleatoric program written in Max/MSP). Around 15 musicians have participated in this one year project so far, and I hope more musicians will participate.
